Flower Care Lilies:
Lilies are elegant, fragrant, and dramatic—but with the right care, they can last beautifully for 7–14 days.
Follow these simple care tips to keep your lilies fresh, vibrant, and fully blooming.
With proper care, lilies will open gradually, revealing their full, dramatic beauty over several days.
Their elegant shape and signature fragrance make them a true statement flower.
1. Trim the Stems Properly
- As soon as your lilies arrive, cut ½–1 inch off the stems at a 45° angle using sharp floral shears or a knife.
- This helps the stems absorb water more efficiently. Re-trim every 2–3 days for maximum freshness.
2. Use Clean Water & Flower Food
- Place lilies in a clean vase filled with fresh, room-temperature water.
- Add the included flower food and stir well. Change the water every 2 days to prevent bacteria buildup.
3. Remove Lower Leaves
- Strip any leaves that would sit below the water line. Leaves in water promote bacteria growth, which shortens vase life.
4. Manage Pollen (Very Important!)
- When lilies open, gently remove the pollen-covered anthers from the center of the bloom.
- Prevents staining on petals, clothing, and surfaces
- Extends the life of the flower
- Keeps the arrangement looking clean and fresh
- Simply pinch them off carefully with your fingers or use a tissue.
5. Keep Them Cool
- Lilies thrive in cool environments. Avoid placing them: In direct sunlight, Near heating vents, Next to appliances, Close to ripening fruit (fruit releases ethylene gas, which shortens flower life)
6. Speed Up Blooming (If Needed)
- If your lilies arrive in bud form and you need them to open faster
- Place them in a warm room (not hot)
- Use lukewarm water
- Increase natural light (indirect sunlight only)
- For slower blooming, keep them in a cooler space.
