Flower Care Roses:
Roses are one of the most popular and timeless flowers, known for their beauty and fragrance. Whether for a special occasion or everyday enjoyment, cut roses can last up to a week or more with proper care. Here are some essential care tips to help keep your roses fresh and vibrant.
To keep your cut roses fresh and vibrant for as long as possible, follow these simple care tips.
By following these care tips, your cut roses will stay fresh, vibrant, and fragrant for longer, allowing you to enjoy their beauty for days.
Before you start procesing your roses, make sure to leave the cardboard around the bunch while they hydrate for at least 12h to provide support while hydrating.
1. Trim the Stems
- Cut at an Angle: Trim the stems about 1-2 inches from the bottom using sharp, clean scissors or a floral knife. Cut at a 45-degree angle to increase the surface area for water absorption.
- Underwater Cutting: If possible, cut the stems underwater to prevent air bubbles from entering the stems, which can block water absorption.
2. Remove Foliage Below Waterline
- Gently remove any leaves or foliage that will be submerged in the water. This helps prevent bacterial growth and keeps the water clean, which will extend the life of your roses.
3. Place in Fresh Water
- Use a Clean Vase: Fill a clean vase with lukewarm water (not too hot or cold), as warm water helps the roses hydrate more efficiently.
- Add Flower Food: If you have flower food, mix it into the water as instructed. Flower food provides essential nutrients and helps prevent bacterial growth. If you dont have flower food, just plain water will do the trick.
4. Keep the Water Fresh
- Change the water everyday to keep it clear and free of bacteria. Always trim the stems slightly when changing the water to maintain hydration.
5. Avoid Direct Sunlight and Heat
- Keep your roses in a cool, shaded spot, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or drafts. Excessive heat can cause the roses to wilt prematurely.
6. Maintain Proper Temperature
- Roses thrive in temperatures between 65-72°F (18-22°C). Avoid placing them in cold drafts or near heating vents, as extreme temperatures can shorten their lifespan.
7. Re-cut the Stems if Needed
- If the roses begin to droop or wilt prematurely, re-cut the stems by about 1 inch and place them back into fresh water. This can help improve water absorption and revive the flowers.
I used Candy Xpression roses for the first time recently, and I honestly get the hype now. The color is so pretty in person — it’s like a soft blush with a little peach warmth to it. Not too pink, not too beige… just that perfect in-between shade that works with everything.
When they opened up, they had that full, ruffled garden rose look that feels really romantic and luxe. They didn’t feel stiff or overly structured — they opened naturally and looked even better after a day or two. The heads were a really nice size too, and the stems felt strong and healthy.
What I loved most is how easy they were to design with. They blended beautifully with neutrals, but they also looked amazing next to deeper tones. And they photograph so well — the color doesn’t wash out.
If you’re thinking about trying them, I’d definitely recommend. They just have that soft, elevated feel that makes any arrangement look more expensive.
I purchased Candy Xpression garden roses from The Flower Hype and they were absolutely beautiful. The blooms opened full and lush with soft blush and peach tones, and the quality was outstanding. They arrived fresh, opened evenly, and held up really well. I’ll definitely be ordering from The Flower Hype again.
