- Blooming Time: Poppies need 3-4 days to fully hydrate and bloom after following our care instructions under the "Flower Care" tab, ensuring they're in peak condition for your event.
- Stem length: 11-13 inches long.
- Each stem has one bloom. Flowers may arrive in a mix of stages, and while many will continue to open, some blooms may remain in bud form, which is a natural part of the flower.
Flower Care Poppies:
Follow these simple care tips to help your poppies hydrate properly and open at their best.
1. Help blooms along if needed
- Poppies arrive as soft, closed pods that will open as they hydrate.
- If a bloom is slow to open, gently loosen or remove the outer layer to encourage blooming.
2. Open boxes right away
- Remove all outer packaging as soon as your flowers arrive and give them a quick quality check before processing.
3. Start with clean buckets
- Use containers that are thoroughly cleaned and free of residue.
- If needed, rinse with warm water before use.
4. Fill with fresh water
- Add at least 4 inches of cool, clean water to each bucket.
- Flower food may be added if available, following the instructions provided.
5. Prepare the stems
- Remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline.
- Using sharp floral snips, trim about 1 inch from the bottom of each stem at an angle to promote water uptake.
6. Place stems immediately
- Set freshly cut stems into water right away, allowing enough space for blooms to develop and open naturally.
7. Keep an eye on hydration
- Poppies absorb water quickly, especially during the first day.
- Check water levels often and top off as needed.
- If stems become exposed, recut before returning them to water.
8. Choose the right environment
- Store poppies in a cool, shaded space away from sunlight, heat, and airflow.
- Refrigeration is not recommended for these blooms.
9. Allow time to rest
- Let poppies hydrate undisturbed for a full 24 hours before designing or arranging.
