By following these care tips, your cut calla lilies will stay fresh, elegant, and beautiful for longer, allowing you to enjoy their striking appearance for days.

1. Trim the Stems

• Cut at an Angle: Use sharp, clean scissors or a floral knife to trim the stems about 1-2 inches from the bottom at a 45-degree angle. This helps the flowers absorb water more effectively. Make sure to remove any rubber bands or plastic sleeves/paper around the bunches.
• Underwater Cutting: If possible, cut the stems underwater to prevent air from entering the stems, which can block water uptake and shorten their lifespan.

2. Place in Fresh Water

• Lukewarm Water: Fill a clean vase with lukewarm water (not too hot or cold). Calla lilies absorb water best in lukewarm temperatures.
• Add Flower Food: If you have a packet of flower food, mix it into the water according to the instructions. Flower food nourishes the flowers and helps prevent bacterial growth, which can make them wilt prematurely.

3. Change the Water Regularly

• Every 1-2 Days: Change the water every 1-2 days to keep it clean and fresh. Old water can cause bacteria to form, which can harm the flowers.
• Trim the Stems Again: When you change the water, trim the stems slightly to ensure they continue to absorb water efficiently.

4. Avoid Direct Sunlight and Heat

• Cool, Shaded Location: Keep your mini calla lilies in a cool, shaded spot away from direct sunlight, heating vents, or other heat sources. Excessive heat can cause the flowers to wilt or fade more quickly.

5. Avoid Fruit

• No Ethylene Gas: Keep mini calla lilies away from fruit, as ripening fruits release ethylene gas, which can speed up the aging process of flowers.

6. Support the Stems

• Prevent Bending: Calla lilies have relatively delicate, slender stems. If you’re using a tall vase, you may want to provide some support (like a floral stem support or a sturdy vase) to prevent the stems from bending or breaking.
